It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed her side required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
