Recent Information Come to Light Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged concerning the tragic passing of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the residence. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
When she went into the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source also disputed several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes reports of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
