I Was So Ill Walking Was Impossible When a Man Virtually Carried Me to a Bathroom.

During my nineteenth year, my daily commute involved an express bus. It remained jammed and was consistently without any seats when I boarded.

During a certain commute, I began feeling terribly ill as the bus rocked around each corner. I repeatedly told myself to endure just a little longer before the bus got to where I needed to get off, at which point I could sprint quickly toward the most convenient washroom to be sick.

We were coming down the avenue close to my stop and I understood I would not be to make it. All of a sudden, it was like a fog descended upon me. The world became white and really quiet; like someone had turned off the audio. My mind raced, “I am about to pass out”.

Luckily I was toward the front of the bus, so I took a couple of steps to ask the driver and requested that the driver to open the doors, informing him I needed to get ill. He promptly opened the bus doors and I weakly exited onto the sidewalk.

I was determined to avoid being sick in front of six lanes of traffic, so I gathered myself and started trying to walk toward the green space opposite the street, where I thought I’d at least be able to secretly conceal myself near some foliage to throw up. Yet I apparently blacked out. I could feel my body but I couldn’t walk and my vision was blurry, leading me to start dragging myself toward the grassy area.

“Are you okay, dear?”

At that moment, I got scooped up. I felt someone holding me and a stranger inquired, “Everything alright, love?” I explained to this unknown man that I had to to be sick. Thus, he practically supported my weight over to a close-by structure and put me inside the women’s restroom. He inquired if I wanted him to stay with me but I refused.

Not long after, I felt better to the point of sitting on the toilet and from the other side of the stall I heard him inquire, “Do you need anything, love? Is there anything you require?” I could not to get up right away but I did succeed to thank him and following a brief period was able to move my legs. I made my way home and spent the next few days recovering from which was a severe stomach virus.

I did not see his features – just his lower half along with a sizable steelwork tools container he was carrying – yet he rescued me, when I was completely helpless.

Frequently, society has a way of making you self-protective, pushy, and rivalrous. What he did was the kind of action that undoes that hardening of the heart. He was proof that humanity’s innate tendency is to be kind, a quality I adore about humanity.
