In a decisive final ballot, hardline candidate José Antonio Kast has clinched the presidential office in Chile.
A Clear-Cut Triumph
With over 99% of votes tallied, Kast won 58.17% of the vote, overcoming leftist candidate Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.
This represents Kast's third bid for the presidency, having earlier been defeated by the current president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 second round.

Noted for his staunch Catholic views and praise for the period of former leader Augusto Pinochet, Kast's electoral bid was largely centered on promises to tackle rising insecurity and significantly curb immigration.
